Community Update Q1 2024

updated on 22 July 2024

I am excited to share with you our progress on our Skill Burst project.

New here? Go to our previous update here.

"Through the gamification of skills, Skill Bursts will raise awareness of high valued careers and help young adults build future fit skills that improve their labour market position.”

Firstly, as always. I want to thank you for your continued support and involvement. Your ongoing feedback and insights are invaluable in shaping a solution for our users and our stakeholders.

We have made considerable progress since our last update.

Our team has been working diligently to ensure that we continue to meet our milestones:

We've completed the muti-stakeholder engagement; a series of 1 to 1 and group interviews, which help define problem statements from employers, employment support, educators, adult learners, hosted a co-creation ideation Innovation day where we were joined by our stakeholders and innovators to generate paper-based ideas and  interpretations of what Skill Bursts should be as a solution.

From that we were able to prioritise design and functions into a MoSCow, which we took  to Cardiff University where we hosted a 3 day intense bootcamp with their Comp Sci students.

From the incredible commitment of the students we now have digital designs we can now take to a UI designer. We are in the process of creating our first digital iteration of a Desktop Demo, another significant milestone, we are starting to see the visualisation of from all the contributions to date.

To deliver this milestone, we have the following actions for Q2 2024:

  • Produce a hi-fidelity desktop demo to test our assumptions
  • Refine how we will link the assessment to unlock suitable opportunities
  • User testing of a desktop demo
  • Explore how and where will we adopt AI

As I mentioned in the previous update,  success will require the fusion of 2 tech components:

1.) Game design element and 2.) Intelligent match-making engine.

We are still early in committing to the latter and are currently researching other models and examples, if you can offer expertise into either of these actions or tech components, we would love to hear from you in this next phase.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We value your feedback and are committed to ensuring that we are building a solution for all engaged in this network.

Let’s get to it!
